I believe counseling is a powerful way to address obstacles to well being. I incorporate a variety of approaches into my way of working with people and believe that it is important to collaborate to find an approach that fits the client’s needs. That being said my approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which is a scientifically validated approach focusing on psychological flexibility and the pursuit of a rich and meaningful life. I like to bring humor and pragmatism into counseling as a way to keep the work grounded. I am LGBTQ affirming.
Many people benefit greatly from having the opportunity to talk through the challenges they are facing in life. Additional benefit can be had from focusing on a particular difficulty and developing a focused plan to bring about change. Counseling is not a one size fits all endeavor. I believe one of the strongest attributes of counseling is the therapeutic relationship. Counseling provides the space for a unique relationship to form that is solely focused on the wellbeing of the client.
